What is good glucose level for diabetes?

My father has diabetes and his sugar levels sometimes fluctuate. We're trying to keep them stable, so I want to understand what a 'good' glucose level generally means for someone with diabetes, both fasting and after meals. It's a bit confusing to keep track.

As a vegetarian, I'm always mindful of what I eat for blood sugar. For diabetics, maintaining a fasting glucose level between 80-130 mg/dL is generally recommended, and post-meal (2 hours) below 180 mg/dL. But these are general, your doctor will give you specific targets based on your condition. Focus on whole grains and complex carbs.

Generally, for most diabetics, a fasting glucose of 80-130 mg/dL and a post-prandial (2 hours after eating) of less than 180 mg/dL is considered good. But these targets can vary based on age, other health conditions, and how long you've had diabetes. Always follow your doctor's specific advice and don't adjust meds yourself.

Good glucose level for diabetics... mostly depends on the individual. My relative who has diabetes aims for around 100-120 fasting and under 160-180 after meals. The main thing is to consistently monitor it, take meds on time, and don't skip meals. Simple changes, but effective.

Don't fret too much about the numbers right away. When I was first diagnosed, I used to worry constantly. Over time, you learn to manage it. Your doctor will set goals for you. The main thing is to be consistent with your diet, exercise, and medicines. Small steps daily lead to good control.

I'm just starting to learn about diabetes for a family member. So, if the numbers are sometimes a bit higher than these ranges, is that very bad? Or does it take time to bring them down consistently? Just wondering.

For something as critical as diabetes, don't rely on general advice from forums. Go to a good endocrinologist, ideally at a reputed hospital. Ask *them* what your specific target glucose levels should be, both fasting and post-meal. They'll also explain your HbA1c target. Get clear instructions, always.

While diet control and some natural remedies like fenugreek water might help manage blood sugar, understanding the exact good glucose levels for a diabetic is something only a doctor can tell you accurately for your specific case. For serious conditions like diabetes, medical guidance is non-negotiable.
