What is facet arthritis?

I've been experiencing persistent lower back pain for months, and my physiotherapist mentioned the possibility of 'facet arthritis'. I'm not familiar with this condition. Can someone explain what facet arthritis is and how it affects the back?

I tend to overthink every ache and pain, so I can imagine how concerning it is to hear about something like facet arthritis. It's basically arthritis affecting the small joints in your spine called facet joints, which can cause back pain. It sounds scary, but it's a common cause of back pain and usually manageable with proper care.

I was diagnosed with facet arthritis a year ago, and it was quite painful, especially in my lower back. It's basically wear and tear in the small joints of your spine. Physiotherapy, some specific exercises, and medications really helped me. Don't lose hope, it's manageable with the right treatment plan.

Ah, facet arthritis. Many of us older folks experience this. It's the wear and tear of the small joints in your spine, which naturally happens with age. Don't worry too much, with good physiotherapy and some care, you can manage the pain and live comfortably. It's a part of getting older for many.

I totally get it, any mention of arthritis can be daunting. Facet arthritis refers to the inflammation and degeneration of the facet joints in your spine, leading to back stiffness and pain. It's tough, but many people manage it well with treatment. You're not alone in dealing with these concerns.
