What is end stage arthritis?

My mother has been suffering from knee pain for years, and the doctor recently said she has 'end-stage arthritis'. This sounds very serious. What exactly does 'end-stage arthritis' mean for her condition?

Oh, this sounds really serious. Is it like when the arthritis is so bad that normal treatments don't work anymore? It makes me worried just thinking about it. Hope anyone going through this is getting the best care possible.

It's the most severe form of arthritis, causing extreme pain and limiting movement. It's a very challenging condition to live with. Support and good medical care are very important for those affected.

Yaar, end stage arthritis matlab jaha joint damage bohot zyada ho gaya hota hai. Like, there's severe pain, swelling, and movement issues. Doctors usually suggest surgery, like joint replacement, at that point. It's actually a very advanced stage of the condition.

Is it when the cartilage is completely worn out? I heard someone mention that. And then the bones start rubbing against each other, causing a lot of pain? It sounds very difficult to manage daily life.

Initially, even I used to panic hearing 'end stage' for any disease. But for arthritis, it usually means the joint is severely damaged and traditional treatments aren't effective. It doesn't mean life-ending, but usually points towards options like joint replacement to improve quality of life. Don't worry too much, medical science has advanced a lot.
