What is defined as a fever?

My grandson has been feeling warm, but my wife says it's not a fever until it crosses a certain temperature. What is medically defined as a fever, and at what temperature should I be worried?

It's natural to worry when you or a loved one feels warm. Generally, a fever is defined as a body temperature that is higher than normal, typically above 100.4°F (38°C) orally. Don't panic, but do monitor it and see if other symptoms appear. It's your body fighting something off.

So, a fever is anything above 100.4°F (38°C) orally, right? I always get confused with armpit temperatures, which tend to be lower. Does anyone else get super anxious when their temp is just slightly above normal, like 99.5°F? I always think the worst!

A fever is medically defined as an elevation in body temperature above the normal range, which is typically around 98.6°F (37°C). Specifically, an oral temperature reading of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher is generally considered a fever. It's the body's natural response to fight infection, but always monitor for other symptoms and consult a doctor if it's very high or persistent.

I just had a fever last month! My doctor said anything above 100.4°F (38°C) orally is a fever. Below that, it's just a raised temperature. So I kept checking with my thermometer. Make sure to hydrate a lot and rest, that helped me recover faster.

It's really tough when you're feeling unwell, and knowing what's a 'real' fever can be confusing. Generally, doctors say it's a fever when your temperature is 100.4°F (38°C) or more when taken orally. Don't hesitate to check it, and don't feel silly for being concerned, it's important to know when to seek help.

According to my family physician, a fever is typically defined as a body temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher when measured orally. Rectal temperatures tend to be slightly higher, and armpit temperatures slightly lower. It's a common misconception that anything above 98.6°F is a fever, but a mild elevation isn't always clinically significant unless accompanied by other symptoms or a higher reading.

A fever is generally an oral temperature of 100.4°F (38°C) or higher. It's your body's immune response. Just like I monitor my BP, it's important to monitor temperature. Don't ignore persistent fevers. A healthy lifestyle helps the immune system, but don't skip checkups if the fever doesn't subside or gets too high.

Fever alert! 🚨 Generally, if your oral temperature hits 100.4°F (38°C) or higher, it's considered a fever. Your body is just doing its job to fight off something! Hydrate and rest well! ✨

Bhaiyya, fever matlab jab apka shareer garam ho jaata hai, aur thermometer mein 100.4°F (38°C) se zyada dikhaye. Hamare gaon mein, agar koi thanda paani ki patti bhi kaam na kare, toh doctor ke paas jaate hain. Apni sehat ka dhyan rakho, chinta mat karo.

Haan na, fever matlab jab apna body temperature badh jaata hai. Normally, 100.4°F (38°C) se upar ho jaaye, tab usko fever bolte hai. Usse thoda kam ho toh maybe just warm body. But important hai ki body ki suno aur agar zyada lage toh doc ko dikhao, ho na?
