What is dandruff made of?

I'm trying to understand my dandruff better so I can treat it effectively. What is dandruff actually made of? Knowing its composition might help me choose the right products.

Hey, chill yaar! Dandruff is mostly just dead skin cells from your scalp. Everyone sheds skin, but with dandruff, it's just a bit faster or clumpier. Sometimes a tiny fungus also plays a part. Don't stress too much about it, it's super common!

Oh god, I always overthink these things! I read somewhere it's dead skin cells and sometimes a yeast-like fungus called Malassezia. It sounds scary but apparently, everyone has it, just some people react differently. Just make sure to keep your scalp clean.

It's completely normal to wonder about these things and feel a bit worried, I get it. Dandruff is essentially just flakes of dead skin that come off your scalp. Sometimes it's due to dryness, sometimes due to oiliness, and a common yeast on the scalp can also make it worse. Don't let it bother you too much.

Beta, don't worry too much about what it's 'made of'. It's mostly just dry skin that comes off the head. In our time, we just used neem oil or lemon juice and it used to settle down. It's a very common thing, happens to almost everyone at some point.

Well, medically speaking, dandruff flakes are basically dead skin cells mixed with scalp oil. A common yeast also plays a role. It's usually not serious, but like with my BP, I always say keep an eye on things and get regular checkups if something feels off. Lifestyle matters too, stress can aggravate it.
