What is concrete cancer?

I was watching a documentary about buildings and they mentioned something called 'concrete cancer'. It sounded like a very strange term for a health forum, but it made me curious. Is this an actual medical condition or just an analogy?

Wait, is this a medical condition, or is it related to building structures? I read this term online and got super anxious thinking it's a new type of disease caused by living in concrete city apartments. Can someone please clarify if humans can get this?

Hearing the word 'cancer' in any context can trigger so much emotional distress and panic. Please take a deep breath; this is purely a metaphorical term used by builders for decaying concrete walls. Your health is completely safe from this, so you can relax.

Don't worry, this has nothing to do with human health! Concrete cancer is a construction term for concrete degradation caused by the rusting of reinforcing steel inside it. I had to get my house pillars repaired for this last year. You just need a structural engineer, not a doctor!

This is completely a civil engineering issue where the steel inside concrete rusts and causes cracking. It is not a medical illness at all, so we don't have to worry about our diet or blood sugar levels for this one! Just a funny name for building wear and tear.

In my sixty years, I have seen many people get confused by this term. It is just a building defect where rust makes concrete crack over many years, especially in coastal areas with salty air. It is not a disease that affects human beings, so rest easy.

This is an issue of old buildings where moisture enters the walls and rusts the iron rods. It is not a disease of the body, so no home remedies or herbs are needed here! Just make sure your house walls are well-waterproofed before the monsoon season starts.
