What is break bone fever?

Many people in my village have been getting dengue recently, and some are saying they have 'break bone fever'. Is this a specific type of dengue? What is break bone fever?

Break bone fever is another name for dengue, because the joint and muscle pain feels like your bones are breaking. Having papaya leaf juice can help support platelets, but please go to a hospital first for a proper blood test.

It is just a common term for Dengue fever due to the severe joint pain it causes. Make sure to monitor your platelet counts closely.

I totally get it, that extreme body ache is absolutely exhausting and feels terrible. It is called break bone fever because of the intense pain in your joints during Dengue. Stay hydrated and rest as much as you can.

It is Dengue fever. When I caught it a few years back, the joint pain was so intense I could barely stand up. I didn't take any random medications, just stayed under my doctor's close observation until my platelets stabilized.

It refers to Dengue. Having had it myself, the joint pain is real and can last for weeks even after the fever goes. My best tip is to drink plenty of coconut water and ORS to prevent dehydration, and keep checking your CBC reports.

Beta, in our days we always called Dengue by this name because of the severe bone pain. Don't worry, with proper rest, hydration, and regular paracetamol, the fever will subside in a week. Just don't exert yourself too soon.

This is simply Dengue. Please do not trust any internet rumors about drinking various leaf juices to magically cure it, as some can cause severe stomach irritation. Always verify your treatment plan with a qualified doctor.
