What is biliary colic pain?

My father keeps getting these sudden, severe pains in his abdomen, especially after eating fatty food. The doctor mentioned it might be 'biliary colic pain'. Can someone explain what that is?

Actually, biliary colic pain can be super intense, yaar. It hits you right below the ribs on the right side and can last for a few hours. My dad had this, and we had to get an ultrasound done to check for gallstones, so don't ignore it.

Hey, don't stress too much! Biliary colic is basically that sharp, sudden pain in your upper stomach when a gallstone temporarily blocks the duct. It usually comes after eating a heavy or oily meal, so just keep your diet light and show it to a doctor.

Please be very careful with this pain because I ignored my biliary colic and it turned into a severe gallbladder infection with high fever. I had to undergo emergency surgery. If you get sudden, unbearable upper abdominal pain, please go to the hospital right away.

Biliary colic is highly connected to what we eat, as fatty meals force the gallbladder to work harder. Switching to a simple, fiber-rich vegetarian diet with zero deep-fried food can really help keep these painful episodes under control. But do get a medical opinion.

This pain typically occurs when the gallbladder contracts against a stone blocking the duct, often triggered by high-fat foods. Staying active and maintaining a healthy weight helps prevent gallstones. Focus on a clean, low-fat diet to manage the symptoms under your doctor's guidance.

I suffered from this severe right-side stomach pain for months before getting my gallbladder operated. Once the stones are removed, the pain goes away completely and you can lead a normal life. Don't worry, it is a very common issue and easily treated nowadays.

For mild stomach discomfort, drinking warm water and avoiding oily foods is always helpful. However, biliary colic pain can be severe and indicates a gallbladder issue. If you also get a fever or notice your skin turning yellow, please see a doctor immediately.
