My father went through BCG therapy last year for his bladder tumor. They insert the liquid medicine directly into the bladder and he had to hold it for about two hours. It helped him recover well, but every patient's case is different so consult your specialist.

Going through BCG therapy was emotionally draining for me, and the frequent hospital visits made me very anxious. It is completely okay to feel overwhelmed or down during this time. Just take deep breaths, seek support from family, and trust that this is helping you heal.

Honestly, I was shivering when they told me about putting bacteria into my bladder. But it turned out to be a very routine outpatient procedure and the discomfort was totally manageable with basic painkillers. It is much better than undergoing major surgery.

Don't be scared of the word 'therapy'. BCG is actually a very safe way to boost your bladder's local immunity so cancer cells don't grow back. The doctors do it very gently in the clinic, so just stay relaxed and take it one session at a time.

I have completed 6 cycles of BCG therapy recently. It is highly effective for keeping early-stage bladder cancer from returning. My tip is to drink lots of water after the fluid is released, and rest for the first 24 hours as you might feel some fatigue and burning.
