What is backache pain?

Been having this dull ache in my lower back for a few weeks now, especially after sitting for long. I'm wondering, what exactly is considered 'backache pain' and when should I be concerned? Sometimes it feels like just tiredness, but other times it's a bit much.

Don't listen to people telling you to rub random oils or do crazy stretches you see on YouTube. Backache can be due to muscle strain, but it could also be a disc issue. Go to an orthopedic doctor and get a proper diagnosis first before doing anything else.

Sitting for hours at restaurant tables searching for the best food gave me a terrible backache! It is basically pain in your lumbar region, often due to poor posture. Now I try to walk off those heavy meals instead of just slouching on the sofa.

For mild backache, a warm compress or applying a little hot sesame oil can give great relief. But please, if the pain travels down your legs or if you feel numbness, do not wait at home. Go to a hospital immediately as it could be a nerve issue.

My grandmother used to suggest sleeping on a firm mat for back pain, which sometimes helps. But my family doctor always warns that severe or chronic pain needs proper clinical evaluation. It is best to consult an expert to find the root cause rather than guessing.

Backache is usually your body telling you that your posture is terrible and your core is weak from sitting all day in office chairs. Get an ergonomic chair and start doing some basic core strengthening exercises. If it doesn't get better in a week, go see a physiotherapist.
