What is an aura migraine without a migraine?

Sometimes I get strange visual disturbances, like zigzag lines, but I don't get a headache afterwards. My friend, who gets migraines, said it sounds like an 'aura migraine without a migraine'. Is that a real thing, and what causes it?

Oh, that's called a 'silent migraine' or 'acephalgic migraine'! It means you get the visual disturbances, numbness, or speech issues (the 'aura') but without the actual headache. It can be quite disorienting. I've tried things like magnesium supplements and certain breathing exercises, but honestly, consulting a neurologist is the best. It's a real thing, you're not imagining it.

This sounds like something you should definitely get checked out by a neurologist. I once dismissed a strange visual disturbance, thinking it was just eye strain, and later regretted not getting an earlier diagnosis for something else. Don't ignore these unusual symptoms; early check-ups are key.

That's known as 'acephalgic migraine' or 'migraine aura without headache'. You experience the sensory disturbances (visual, speech, numbness) typical of a migraine aura, but the headache component doesn't follow. It's a recognized neurological phenomenon and warrants a doctor's evaluation to rule out other conditions.

Yes, that's possible. It's called acephalgic migraine. You get the aura symptoms, like flashing lights or numbness, but no headache. It's important to monitor it, just like I do with my thyroid levels, and have a neurologist check it out. Regular follow-ups are crucial.

That's called an acephalgic migraine. It can be confusing because you get the visual or sensory changes without the typical headache. If you experience this, definitely see a neurologist. Be prepared for some tests like an MRI, which can be a bit costly, so check your insurance coverage beforehand.

Aura without the headache? They call it a silent migraine or acephalgic migraine. It's when you get the weird visual stuff or tingling but no actual head pain. Still, don't take it lightly. Get it checked by a brain doctor (neurologist) to be sure everything is okay.
