What is a visual migraine?

Sometimes I get these weird visual disturbances, like zigzag lines or shimmering lights, before a headache. My doctor said it could be a 'visual migraine'. What is a visual migraine exactly? Does it mean I'm about to get a bad headache?

A visual migraine, often called an ocular migraine or migraine with aura, is when you experience temporary vision disturbances, like zigzag lines, flashing lights, or blind spots, usually before or during a headache. It can be quite unsettling. It's usually harmless, but seeing a doctor to rule out anything else serious is always a good idea.

A visual migraine means you get visual disturbances like shimmering lights or blind spots, sometimes without a headache. I've heard about it from a colleague. It's different from the usual headache, but can be a sign to check on your overall health. Like with my BP, these signals shouldn't be ignored, and a checkup is good.

A visual migraine involves temporary visual disturbances, like flashing lights or blind spots. It can be quite concerning to experience. If you get these, it's wise to consult a doctor, as they might recommend some tests to rule out other issues. Try to find a clinic that offers packages for neurological tests to manage costs effectively.

I actually experienced visual migraines a few months ago! It was terrifying. I saw shimmering zigzag patterns and even lost a bit of my vision temporarily, then a headache would follow. My doctor explained it's an 'aura' before the headache. Identifying triggers like stress or certain foods really helped me manage it.

A visual migraine (or migraine with aura) means you get temporary visual disturbances like wavy lines or blind spots. These usually last 20-30 minutes and can happen before or with the headache. If you experience this, try to note down the triggers and duration. It’s important to consult a neurologist if it's frequent or severe, as early management helps maintain productivity.
