What is a kidney infection?

My friend had some really bad back pain and a high fever last week, and the doctor said it was a kidney infection. I didn't know kidneys could get infected. What exactly is a kidney infection and how does it happen?

Beta, a kidney infection usually happens when a normal UTI travels up to your kidneys. It can cause high fever, chills, and severe pain in your lower back or side. Please don't rely on simple home remedies for this; you must consult a doctor immediately for antibiotics.

A kidney infection is a type of urinary tract infection that reaches one or both kidneys. It can be quite painful with fever and nausea, so it needs proper medical care. Drink lots of water and check with a doctor as soon as possible!

My daughter had a kidney infection when she was ten, and she had a very high fever with shivering and vomiting. It was so scary for us. We rushed her to the pediatrician, and they treated it with antibiotics. Please monitor the fever closely and see a doctor.

I had a kidney infection last year and the back pain was unbearable, along with a high fever. My doctor prescribed a course of antibiotics and told me to rest completely. It took about a week to feel normal, but getting medical help early made a huge difference.

A kidney infection is a serious condition that starts as a bladder infection and spreads upwards. Just like we need regular blood tests for thyroid management, kidney infections require proper urine cultures and follow-ups to ensure the infection is completely gone.
