What is a heart attack called?

My uncle had a sudden cardiac arrest last month, and ever since, our family has been discussing heart health a lot. I'm just trying to understand the medical terms and what happens during such an event. What's the proper medical name for a heart attack?

I totally get it, medical terms can be so confusing when you are just trying to find simple info. It is actually called a myocardial infarction in medical language. Don't stress too much about the big names, but definitely keep a check on any symptoms.

The doctors at Max Hospital call it a myocardial infarction. Whenever we have a scare in the family, I make it a point to ask the cardiologist to explain everything in plain English. Please sit down with your doctor and get all your doubts cleared directly.

It is called a myocardial infarction, or MI for short. Basically, it happens when blood flow to the heart muscle is blocked. If this is for an emergency, don't waste time reading on the phone, just get to a hospital immediately.

I think the scientific term is myocardial infarction, if I remember correctly. I usually get a bit anxious about heart topics because of my PCOS and erratic lifestyle, so I try not to read too much online. Please consult a specialist if you're trying to understand a specific test report.

Yes, myocardial infarction is the official medical name for it. It is always better to know these terms when reading health reports.
