What is a good sugar substitute for diabetics?

My doctor told me to cut down on sugar because of my diabetes, but I still like my tea and coffee sweet. I've heard about sugar substitutes, but I'm not sure which one to use. What is a good sugar substitute for diabetics that's safe?

Instead of buying very expensive organic sugar substitutes, I simply switched to using small amounts of stevia liquid for my morning tea. For daily cooking, we have just cut down the sweetness altogether because that is the most practical way to save money and health.

Stevia or erythritol are gentle options that many people find useful. I hope you find something that suits your taste and keeps your health comfortable. Take care of yourself.

Don't blindly buy any sweetener just because it is marketed as natural or diabetic-friendly. Some of these chemical sweeteners can mess with your gut health. Speak directly to your doctor or a registered clinical nutritionist before changing your diet.

I totally get it, giving up sugar is so painful when you love your daily chai. Stevia is a really good option that doesn't spike insulin, though the aftertaste takes some getting used to. Just take it one step at a time, you will adapt to it.

I don't have time for elaborate sugar-free recipes, so I just carry stevia tablets in my laptop bag for office coffee. It is fast, easy, and stops me from consuming office pantry sweets. Erythritol is also good if you want to bake at home.

I completely understand the fear and anxiety of looking at food labels once you get diagnosed. It feels like you can never eat anything sweet again. I started using monk fruit sweetener in moderation, and it really helped satisfy my cravings without raising my blood sugar.

In our old days, we did not have all these fancy powders, we just reduced sugar or sometimes used a tiny piece of natural jaggery, though even jaggery raises sugar. Stevia leaves are a safe modern choice, but the best remedy is training your tongue to enjoy unsweetened things.
