What is a good substitute for bread for diabetics?

My wife was recently diagnosed with diabetes, and we're trying to make changes to her diet. She loves bread, but we know it's not ideal. What's a good substitute for bread for diabetics that tastes similar?

Honestly, giving up my morning toast was the hardest part of my diagnosis, and I cried so much initially. It felt like my normal life was just over. Eventually, I shifted to making besan chilla or thin moong dal cheelas which are actually so satisfying and don't spike my levels at all.

Along with gentle stretching and deep breathing every morning, eating the right grains is key. Instead of store-bought wheat bread, I have switched to home-cooked ragi roti or oats porridge. It keeps the body light and energetic throughout the day without heavy starch.

Please be careful with breads labeled as 'diabetic-friendly' or 'multi-grain' in stores, as they often still have maida. I prefer to make pure jowar or bajra rotis at home instead. They are completely vegetarian, high in fiber, and much safer for blood sugar control.

I was just reading about this yesterday because my uncle wants to stop eating bread too. Apparently, almond flour bread or coconut flour wraps are huge trends online now. Has anyone tried them? They seem like decent low-carb options if they taste okay.

Managing both thyroid and sugar can be tricky as everything affects your metabolism. I stopped bread completely and shifted to boiled eggs and sautéed veggies for breakfast. Make sure you get your HbA1c and thyroid panels checked regularly and consult your doc before making big dietary shifts.

Look, bread is just convenient, that is why we crave it. To beat this, I started keeping sourdough or sprouted moong batter ready in the fridge. Sourdough has a lower glycemic index, but honestly, homemade millet rotis are the absolute best choice for long-term control.

Haan yaar, white bread toh bilkul band kar do, pure poison hai sugar ke liye. Instead of bread, try making oats chilla or egg white omelets na. It is super quick, tastes great, and pet bhi bhar jata hai bina kisi tension ke.
