What is a good kidney function number?

Had a routine check-up, and the doctor said my kidney function numbers were okay, but I should keep an eye on them. What exactly is considered a 'good' kidney function number, so I know what to look for next time?

Dekho bhai, kidney function ke liye eGFR number 90 se upar hona sabse badhiya maana jata hai. Agar yeh 60 se neeche ja raha hai toh tension ki baat ho sakti hai. seedhe doctor ke paas jao, khud se dimag mat lagao.

Please do not rely on standard Google charts to check your kidney function numbers. Creatinine and eGFR depend on your age, gender, and muscle mass, so what is normal for a young guy might not be normal for an elderly person. Take your lab reports straight to a qualified nephrologist to get them verified.

Generally, in medical terms, an eGFR (estimated Glomerular Filtration Rate) above 90 indicates normal kidney function, and serum creatinine should ideally be between 0.6 to 1.2 mg/dL for most adults. However, slight variations occur based on your hydration levels during the test, so consult your doctor for an accurate reading.

My father's report says his eGFR is 78. I am very new to reading medical reports and a bit worried if this is considered a safe number? If anyone here has similar readings, could you please tell me if we need to see a doctor immediately?

A good eGFR score above 90 shows healthy organ function, which can be supported through a balanced lifestyle and gentle yoga like Kapalbhati. However, please remember that regular checkups are essential. Yoga can support your well-being, but we must respect the physical readings and follow doctor's advice.

I have been tracking my kidney numbers for five years now due to my high blood pressure. While 90+ eGFR is ideal, even 60-89 is considered stable as long as there is no protein leakage in the urine. Just make sure to get tested at the same reliable lab every time to keep a consistent track.
