What is a good amount of rem sleep?
Been tracking my sleep lately and noticed my REM sleep is quite low. Is there an ideal amount of REM sleep one should aim for? I feel a bit groggy sometimes.

Agree with the others here. About 90 to 120 minutes of REM sleep is considered very healthy for emotional processing and memory.
Honestly, at this age, I am happy if I just get some regular sleep without having to get up to use the bathroom. But they say REM sleep should be around 20% of your night, which is roughly 1.5 hours. Personally, my brain is too tired to even dream that much.
To hit that sweet spot of 90-120 minutes of REM sleep, consistency is key. I noticed mine improved significantly once I fixed my dinner timing to 3 hours before bed and cut down on late-night screen time.
Wait, you guys are actually getting REM sleep? My tracker shows I spend most of my night just tossing, turning, and thinking about stupid things I said in 2015. If I can get even 30 minutes of proper dream sleep, it feels like a major victory.

Don't stress too much over the daily numbers on your tracker, okay? As long as you are sleeping 7-8 hours overall and not waking up with a heavy head, your body is likely getting the REM sleep it needs naturally.
