What is a bad fever for an adult?

My brother has been feeling quite unwell since yesterday with a high temperature. We're not sure if it's just a normal fever or something more serious that needs a doctor. What exactly is considered a 'bad' fever for an adult?

I was searching this yesterday because my roommate got a fever. From what I read, anything above 103°F (39.4°C) is considered high and potentially bad for an adult. If it reaches that high or stays for days, you really should not ignore it.

I totally get it, running a fever can make you feel absolutely miserable and worried. Usually, a fever above 103°F is a signal that your body needs medical attention. Please take rest, keep sipping water, and consult a doctor if it doesn't come down.

Agree with the others, anything touching 103°F or above is definitely a bad fever for adults. Please go to a clinic if it crosses this limit.

In adults, a mild fever of 100°F is just the body fighting an infection. But if the thermometer starts hitting 103°F or 104°F, or if you feel severe shivering and weakness, it is a bad fever. Don't wait at home, get a proper checkup done immediately.

My family physician clearly told me that while low-grade fevers are harmless, anything above 103°F in an adult is high-grade and needs immediate evaluation. He also mentioned that if a fever lasts more than three days, you must do blood tests to find the cause.

My grandmother always says to apply a wet cloth on the forehead to cool down, which is good for mild heat. But if the temperature goes above 103°F, we must trust the doctors and take proper medicine. Please visit a nearby clinic if it is high.

An adult fever over 103°F (39.4°C) that does not respond to medication is a clear signal to seek medical care. Additionally, if the fever is accompanied by shortness of breath, severe headache, or confusion, these are red flags. Please see a healthcare professional immediately.

Over the years, I have seen many flu seasons. A temperature over 103 degrees is high and needs careful attention. Don't panic, drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated, but do consult a doctor if the fever is high or persistent.
