Vomiting and diarrhea can lead to severe dehydration quickly, which can be dangerous, especially for children or the elderly. I once ignored it and ended up in the hospital. Please don't take it lightly. If it's persistent, accompanied by fever, or you can't keep fluids down, see a doctor immediately. It's better to be safe.
For vomiting and diarrhea, our family always starts with ORS (Oral Rehydration Solution) to prevent dehydration. Small sips of tender coconut water or rice kanji also help. Avoid heavy, spicy foods. Stick to bland foods like idli or plain rice. But if it doesn't settle in a day or two, or if there is blood, see a doctor without delay.
For mild cases, ginger tea can help with nausea, and a BRAT diet (Bananas, Rice, Applesauce, Toast) is good for the stomach. Hydration with ORS is most important. However, if symptoms are severe, lasting more than 24-48 hours, or if there's high fever or extreme weakness, please go to a doctor. Don't just rely on home remedies then.
When you're dealing with vomiting and diarrhea, rest is paramount, so no intense workouts! But if it's a very mild case and you feel up to it once symptoms subside, a very gentle walk can sometimes help stimulate digestion and make you feel less sluggish. Listen to your body, and don't push it.
Yes, ORS is really important. Hope you feel better soon.
Ugh, that's the worst combo! When I had it, I just tried to sip on water or Electral constantly to not get dehydrated. And only ate super bland stuff like plain khichdi or curd rice. It takes time, but don't eat anything oily or spicy until your stomach settles. And lots of rest!
