What helps relieve tooth pain?

My tooth suddenly started aching badly last night and I couldn't sleep. I have a dentist appointment tomorrow, but what can I do right now to help relieve this tooth pain? It's really throbbing.

Hello, I'm new here and also sometimes get toothaches. I heard clove oil helps? Has anyone tried that? Does it really work quickly or is it just for mild pain? Hope you feel better soon.

Tooth pain is no joke, it can be really distracting. A good practical solution is to rinse your mouth with warm salt water; it helps reduce swelling and cleans the area. Also, sometimes an over-the-counter painkiller like ibuprofen can give temporary relief till you see a dentist. Don't delay the dentist visit, though.

Oh, tooth pain is awful, I've been there! I've tried everything. Clove oil applied directly on the painful tooth with a cotton swab gives temporary relief, but it won't fix the underlying problem. A cold compress on the outside of your cheek can also numb the area a bit. But seriously, see a dentist, these are just stop-gap solutions.

Dant ka dard bahut pareshan karta hai. Ek chota sa laung (clove) daant ke neeche rakh ke dheere dheere chusne se bahut aaram milta hai. Yeh purane zamane se karte aa rahe hain. Lekin beta, agar dard zyada ho toh doctor ko zaroor dikhana, ghar ke nuskhe sirf thodi der ke liye hain.

I literally just got over a bad toothache last month! What helped me instantly was just putting a bit of clove oil, diluted with a tiny bit of olive oil, directly on the tooth with a cotton bud. It was a lifesaver until I could get to the dentist. The pain went down significantly. But yeah, dentist is a must!
