What helps prevent kidney stones?

A friend of mine just had a very painful experience with kidney stones, and he said it's something I definitely don't want. What are the best ways to prevent them from forming? I'm willing to make changes to my diet or lifestyle.

Look, with kidney stones, there's a lot of WhatsApp forward 'cures' out there. Don't fall for them. The biggest proven thing is just drinking enough water throughout the day. And if you've had stones before, your doctor might suggest avoiding certain foods depending on the stone type. Always verify with a proper medical professional, please.

My son developed kidney stones once, and it was quite scary. The doctor stressed on hydration big time. Also, reducing salt intake and eating less processed food helped. For some types of stones, they ask you to limit oxalate-rich foods like spinach, but it varies for everyone. So, consult a doctor first to know the type of stone.

From a practical standpoint, the number one thing is always hydration. Drink sufficient water throughout the day to keep your urine diluted. Also, limiting sodium and animal protein can be helpful for some. If you've had stones before, your doctor might also suggest lemon water, as citrate can help prevent stone formation.

Hydration is super important, obviously. From a fitness angle, being active also helps your overall metabolic health. If your doctor allows, regular walking or light exercise can improve circulation and kidney function, which could contribute to prevention. Just don't overdo it, especially if you're in pain.

Haan na, kidney stones are so painful! To prevent them, the most important thing is to drink enough water, like a lot lot. And don't eat too much salty stuff, ho na? My dad says lemon water also helps a lot. But agar history hai, toh doc ko consult karna best hai.

I've been reading that the biggest thing is just drinking a lot of water. Like, consistently. And avoiding too much salt in your diet. Some articles also mention reducing foods high in oxalates, especially if you're prone to calcium oxalate stones. It seems like staying hydrated is the universal advice.

Kidney stones can mean expensive treatments, so prevention is definitely better. Drinking plain water costs nothing. Also, eating simple, homemade food with less salt instead of fancy outside food saves money and keeps you healthy. If you have any family history, maybe a basic urine test is a small expense for peace of mind.
