Rest and fluids are key. Sometimes paracetamol helps.
A fever is the body's way of fighting infection. To help it go away, adequate rest, plenty of fluids (water, ORS, soups), and light, easily digestible food are important. Over-the-counter medicines like paracetamol can reduce discomfort. However, if the fever is high, persistent, or accompanied by severe symptoms, professional medical advice is always best.
Plenty of fluids and rest, and mild fever reducers are generally effective.
At my hospital, they always advise focusing on comfort: paracetamol for the fever, sponging with lukewarm water, and staying hydrated with water or ORS. But importantly, they stress identifying the cause. If the fever persists or is very high, always consult your doctor clearly to find out the root issue.
Please don't ignore it. I once thought a fever would just go away with home remedies and it turned out to be something more serious. While rest and fluids help, if it's high or lasts long, you must see a doctor. It's better to be safe than sorry, learn from my mistake.
When I get a fever, I get so anxious that it's something really bad! Does anyone else find that just drinking lots of warm liquids and staying under a light sheet really helps, or is it always about taking medicine? I sometimes feel like the medicine just hides it.
