What happens to extra skin after weight loss?

I've lost a significant amount of weight recently through diet and exercise, which I'm very happy about! But now I have some extra loose skin, especially around my arms and tummy. What typically happens to this extra skin after weight loss, does it ever tighten up completely on its own?

Ugh, the loose skin struggle! After all that hard work avoiding delicious food and shedding kilos, it feels so unfair. Sometimes it does retract a bit, especially if you're younger, but often it just hangs there. Like a sad, empty pizza box after the party is over. 🤷‍♀️

I totally get it, this is such a common and frustrating part of a weight loss journey. How much skin remains loose really depends on factors like age, how much weight you lost, and skin elasticity. Sometimes it tightens up a bit naturally, especially if the loss is gradual, but often, people look into surgical options.

This isn't about symptoms, but it's important to understand your body. After massive weight loss, extra skin is common. Don't ignore it if it causes rashes or discomfort. I once ignored a small issue and it became big. So, if the loose skin bothers you, consult a dermatologist or a plastic surgeon. They can advise on options.

For general skin firmness, some people try massages with natural oils or strength training. It can help a little with elasticity. But honestly, if you've lost a lot of weight, sometimes the skin just doesn't bounce back completely. If it's causing discomfort or hygiene issues, then please see a doctor. Home remedies have their limits.

Hey, girl, don't stress too much about the loose skin! It's super normal after a big weight loss, like a badge of honour for your hard work. Sometimes it shrinks back a bit, but often it stays. If it really bothers you, there are cosmetic options, but focus on how amazing you feel now!

My son lost a lot of weight, and the loose skin was a real confidence killer for him. We spoke to his doctor, and they explained it's natural. Sometimes regular exercise, especially strength training, helps tone the muscles underneath, making the skin look a bit better. But for significant amounts, surgery might be the only option. Be patient and supportive.

Ah, the revenge of the skin! You work so hard to lose weight, and then your body decides to give you a cape of extra skin. Seriously though, it depends on genetics and how old you are. Younger people sometimes see it retract more. For us older folks, it might need some 'nip and tuck' to look tight again. Such is life!

Loose skin is a very common concern. Strength training can help build muscle underneath to fill it out a bit.

Yeah, bro, after I lost like 30 kgs, my stomach skin was still a bit loose. It doesn't just snap back like a rubber band, especially if you lost a lot. Strength training helped a little to fill it out, but some of it just stayed. It's part of the process, I guess.

After a big weight loss, loose skin is a thing. It depends on genetics, how fast you lost weight, and age. Doing weight training can help by building muscle underneath, which makes it look tighter. Good diet and hydration are important for skin elasticity too. But for really significant loose skin, surgery is often the way people go.

I lost a significant amount of weight last year, and yes, loose skin is a real thing. For me, it was mostly around my stomach and arms. It did tighten up a little bit over time with consistent workouts and staying hydrated, but some areas still have it. I'm now considering consultation for surgery, as it affects my confidence a bit.

It's a common outcome after substantial weight loss. The skin's elasticity plays a huge role. While it can improve over time, especially with consistent strength training to build muscle and fill out the underlying tissues, major loose skin often requires surgical intervention. Hydration and good nutrition also support skin health.
