What happens if kidney infection goes untreated?

My aunt has been having a lot of back pain and fever, and the doctor thinks it might be a kidney infection. She's scared of doctors and delaying going for tests. What happens if a kidney infection goes untreated? Can it get very serious?

An untreated kidney infection is extremely dangerous and can permanently damage your organs. While drinking barley water and eating cucumber can help cool the system, these are not cures. You must take proper doctor-prescribed antibiotics to clear the infection fully.

The body is a temple and we must listen to its warning signs. A kidney infection is its way of telling you that it needs immediate rest and medical care. Keep your mind calm, pray for strength, and let the doctors treat you with proper medicines without any delay.

Man, I am already up at 3 AM with zero sleep and reading this makes my own back ache. Honestly, ignoring a kidney infection is a shortcut to a very painful hospital stay with tubes and alarms. Save yourself the sleepless nights and just see a doc today.

If left untreated, a kidney infection can lead to sepsis, which is a life-threatening blood infection, or chronic kidney disease. This is a medical emergency that cannot be cured by home care. Please consult a urologist or nephrologist immediately for a proper urine culture and antibiotic course.

Unless you want to meet your ancestors early, please don't leave a kidney infection untreated! It's not a lazy Sunday that will pass on its own. Get off the internet, go to a clinic, get those antibiotics, and save your kidneys so you can enjoy biryani later.

My roommate ignored her UTI for a week and it turned into a severe kidney infection with high fever and vomiting. She had to be put on IV fluids in the hospital for three days. Please don't wait for it to get that bad; go see a doctor right now.

Do not ignore any back pain or burning sensation while passing urine. If you delay, the hospital bill for ICU admission in case of severe infection will be very high. Go to a local diagnostic lab, get a basic urine routine test done for 150 rupees, and show it to a MBBS doctor today.
