What happen when thyroid is removed?

My cousin recently had to get her thyroid removed due to some complications. She's a bit anxious about what comes next. Can anyone tell me what typically happens after the thyroid gland is removed?

Haan na, once the thyroid gland is removed, our body cannot make thyroid hormones anymore. So life-long daily hormone tablet leni padti hai subah khali pet. It is very common, so don't worry, bas medication miss mat karna.

I had my thyroid removed five years ago due to nodules. The key is to take your thyroxine tablet exactly at the same time every morning and get your TSH levels checked every 3 to 6 months. Once your dose is set, you will feel completely normal and energetic.

Look, simple thing—no thyroid means no natural hormone production. You will have to rely on synthetic hormone pills for the rest of your life. Just find a good endocrinologist, follow their dosage strictly, and you can live a perfectly active life.

Honestly, it is a very standard procedure these days! You just have to take one tiny pill every morning to replace the hormone, and you are good to go. Stay positive, you've got this! 😊

I know how terrifying the thought of removing an organ sounds, I was also panicking before my surgery. But trust me, the doctor will manage your hormone levels perfectly with medication. The anxiety before the surgery is the hardest part, the recovery is quite smooth.

I had my thyroidectomy done back in 2004. In the beginning, it took a few months to adjust the tablet dosage, but after that, I faced absolutely no issues. At my age, I still go for walks and manage my routine without any trouble.

Please make sure to follow up with your doctor regularly post-surgery. I made the mistake of skipping my blood tests after my surgery and my hormone levels went completely out of whack, leaving me terribly exhausted. Regular testing is absolutely non-negotiable.
