What goes good with liver and onions?

My husband loves liver and onions, and I'm trying to make a nice meal for him. What side dishes or accompaniments usually go well with liver and onions? Want to try something new.

Mashed potatoes or simple boiled green beans go really well with it. Just make sure the liver is sourced from a very clean, hygienic place because organ meat can sometimes carry heavy metals. Also, don't eat it too often because of the high vitamin A levels!

Keep it simple. Rice or a nice crusty bread to soak up the gravy works best. If you want some greens, just toss some peas or broccoli on the side. No need to overcomplicate a traditional dish.

Mashed potatoes is the classic pair, actually. But if you want a desi twist, hot buttered pav goes so well with liver and onions, yaar! It absorbs all that rich gravy perfectly.

Since liver is a very heavy, iron-rich food, pairing it with light steamed vegetables like carrots or zucchini is highly beneficial. It helps the digestive fire process the heavy meal without making you feel sluggish.

I was just looking up traditional recipes and it seems mashed potatoes or buttered noodles are the most popular sides. Some people also suggest roasted root vegetables to balance the strong, earthy flavor of the liver.

A simple plate of steamed green vegetables or a bowl of brown rice brings a lovely balance to this dish. Whatever you eat, consume it with a grateful and peaceful mind, as positive energy during meals is what truly nourishes our body.

In our old days, heavy meats like liver were always eaten with a side of simple radish salad or ginger-garlic chutney. This helps in digestion and cuts down the richness. Always drink some warm fennel tea half an hour after such a heavy meal.
