What exacerbates eczema?

My eczema sometimes gets really bad, with intense itching and redness. I'm trying to figure out what triggers it or makes it worse so I can avoid those things. What common things tend to exacerbate eczema?

My grandmother used to say stress makes everything worse, and for eczema, it's very true. Also, harsh soaps and dry weather were big triggers for me. My dermatologist recommended fragrance-free products and keeping the skin moisturized. So, family advice is good for general wisdom, but for treatment, trust your doctor, always.

From my experience, dry weather, long hot showers, and strong perfumes in lotions really irritate eczema. I prefer using natural, gentle moisturizers and lukewarm water for baths. Also, stress is a big factor! Try to manage it with meditation or light exercise. But if it's severe, please see a dermatologist, don't just rely on home remedies.

Hey, eczema can be really frustrating. Common triggers are usually harsh chemicals in soaps or detergents, certain fabrics like wool, extreme temperatures (very hot or very cold), and stress. Pay attention to what you eat too, some people find certain foods aggravate it. It's about finding your personal triggers and avoiding them. Take care of your skin gently.

I just recovered from a bad eczema flare-up. For me, it was definitely the cheap laundry detergent I switched to, and then stress from work made it worse. Also, dry air in AC rooms is a big no-no. Switching back to a mild, hypoallergenic detergent and regular moisturizing made a huge difference. Identify your triggers and eliminate them!

Oh, I totally get it, eczema can be so maddening! For me, stress is a massive trigger. Also, harsh soaps, perfumes, and even long hot showers make my skin angry. Sometimes even certain foods like dairy or gluten can cause a flare-up. It's a process of elimination to figure out your personal triggers.

Eczema can be a challenge. While I manage my diabetes carefully with diet, I've noticed that sometimes sugary foods can cause general inflammation which might affect skin conditions. So, diet can play a role. Beyond that, strong chemicals, artificial fragrances, and even certain types of fabrics can aggravate it. It's a matter of identifying what causes YOUR skin to react.
