What does the start of kidney stones feel like?

My uncle recently had kidney stones, and he said the pain started mildly. I'm trying to understand the progression. What does the very beginning of kidney stones feel like before the severe pain starts?

Dude, it's seriously the worst pain I've ever felt. It started as a sudden, super sharp pain in my side, right below my ribs, then it moved to my groin. It was coming in waves, like really bad cramps, and I couldn't sit still. Also, I felt like throwing up. If you feel anything like that, just go to the emergency room, don't wait.

It's totally normal to be curious about this, kidney stone pain sounds terrifying! From what I've heard, it can start as a sudden, sharp, intense pain in your back or side, often radiating to your lower abdomen or groin. It comes in waves and is often accompanied by nausea. Don't ignore it, if you feel something like this, get it checked!

Kidney stone pain can be very intense. It usually starts suddenly, with sharp pain in your back or side, which can move down. Lots of water and maybe some coconut water can help prevent them, or pass small ones. But if the pain is severe or you have fever, please rush to a doctor, don't rely only on home remedies.

Oh god, just thinking about kidney stones makes me anxious! I've heard it's one of the worst pains. It usually starts suddenly with excruciating, sharp pain in the side or back, often moving downwards, and can be accompanied by nausea and vomiting. If I ever felt that, I'd definitely panic and go straight to the hospital. Stay strong everyone!

It's brutal. Starts as a sudden, excruciating pain in your flank or lower back that can radiate down to your groin. It's colicky, meaning it comes and goes in waves, but even in between waves, there's a dull ache. Nausea and vomiting are common. Don't waste time, get to an ER.

Putra, kidney stone pain is very severe, like a sharp stab in your back or side, coming in waves. My grandfather used to say drink plenty of water, especially barley water or coconut water, to keep stones away. But if the pain is unbearable, don't wait for home remedies; take the doctor's help immediately.

Kidney stone pain? Sounds like my Mondays feel, but way worse. I heard it's like someone is twisting your insides in your back or side, and it's so bad you can't even stand still. And you're nauseous. Basically, sounds like my worst nightmare if I also didn't get any sleep.

For someone managing diabetes, it's vital to stay hydrated to prevent kidney stones. The pain is typically severe and sudden, felt in the back or side, radiating to the groin, often with nausea. Given the complications diabetes can bring, any such pain should lead to an immediate doctor's visit, not self-treatment.

I'm always a bit anxious about health stuff. So, kidney stone pain starts suddenly in the back and then goes to the front, right? Is it like a constant pain or does it come in waves? And does anyone else get mild back aches and then immediately worry it's a stone, or is that just me?

While PCOS isn't directly related to kidney stones, knowing about different types of pain is always good. The start of kidney stone pain is often described as a sudden, severe, cramping pain in your back or side, moving towards your lower abdomen. It comes in waves and is typically very intense. If you experience this, it's best to consult a medical professional right away.
