What does the beginning of kidney stones feel like?

My brother just got diagnosed with kidney stones, and he said the pain started very suddenly. I'm curious, what does the beginning of kidney stones actually feel like? Is it a sharp pain or more of an ache?

From my experience, the first sign was this dull ache in my lower back, on one side, which slowly got worse. It wasn't constant pain, more like waves. Definitely not something to self-diagnose, but that's how it started for me.

When the body gives signals, it's important to pay heed. Many describe the onset of kidney stones as a sharp pain in the back or side, sometimes radiating to the lower abdomen. Stay calm, maintain a positive outlook, and most importantly, seek proper medical guidance for healing.

Arre baap re, kidney stones sunke hi darr lagta hai. Haan, mere ek relative ko hua tha, unhone bataya ki pehle toh thoda sa dard hota hai kamar mein, ya fir pet ke side mein. Na, wo koi normal dard nahi hota, ekdum alag type ka. Doctor ko dikhana zaroori hai!

Hmm, kidney stones can be quite intense. I've heard from others that it often begins with a subtle discomfort or a sharp, sudden pain in the back or side, usually below the ribs. It's a sign your body needs attention, so listen to it and seek professional advice.

Typically, you might feel a sudden, severe pain in your back or side, often just below the ribs. This pain can come in waves and sometimes travels towards your lower abdomen. Some people also feel a burning sensation when they pee. If you feel anything like this, best to get it checked out fast.

Oh god, kidney stones sound so scary! I'm always worried about these things. I've read that it can start with a mild, nagging pain in your side or back that gets worse, or sometimes it's just really sudden, intense pain. Please don't ignore it, get it checked, I'm sure it's nothing too serious but better safe than sorry.
