What does spironolactone do for pcos?

My gynaecologist suggested spironolactone for my PCOS symptoms, especially for acne and hair growth. I'm a bit hesitant to start new medication. Can someone explain what spironolactone does for PCOS?

Spironolactone helps reduce the male hormones in PCOS, which practicaly controls the stubborn acne and excess facial hair growth that girls face. My daughter was prescribed this by her gynecologist, and it took about three to four months to show visible results. Please ensure she takes it strictly as advised by her doctor.

I know how exhausting and emotionally draining it is to deal with facial hair and cystic acne from PCOS. Spironolactone was a lifesaver for me as it blocks the androgens that cause these symptoms. Your struggles are completely real, and finding the right medical help can bring so much relief.

Since it acts as a mild diuretic, it can affect your blood pressure and potassium levels while controlling PCOS symptoms like acne. Make sure you get your BP and kidney function checked regularly while taking this medication. Balancing it with a low-salt lifestyle is also very helpful.

I was totally freaked out when I saw this was actually a blood pressure medicine prescribed for my PCOS hair loss. But my doctor reassured me that it is completely normal to use it off-label for anti-androgen effects, and it really helped clear my skin within a few months.

It helps manage fluid retention and blocks excess androgens that cause breakouts. While taking it, pairing your treatment with regular strength training and a high-protein, balanced diet can do wonders for managing insulin levels and overall PCOS symptoms.

Spironolactone blocks testosterone receptors to help control symptoms like hirsutism. However, it can cause electrolyte imbalances and isn't safe during pregnancy. Please get a proper hormone test done and only take it under strict medical supervision.

Actually, spironolactone is a game changer for PCOS acne and facial hair, yaar. It basically blocks those annoying male hormones that cause breakouts. Just be prepared to pee a lot in the beginning since it is a diuretic, and definitely talk to your doc before starting.

It really helps to reduce that painful cystic acne on the jawline, haan na. It acts as an anti-androgen to balance the hormones. But you have to be patient because it takes at least 3-6 months to show proper results on your skin.
