What does sciatica pain feel like?

My father has been complaining about this pain in his leg, it goes all the way down from his back. The doctor mentioned 'sciatica' to him. I was wondering what that kind of pain actually feels like for someone to describe it.

It usually feels like a sharp, shooting pain down one leg, often accompanied by a tingling sensation. For your own safety, please get a proper clinical examination or an MRI done to check for any disc bulge. Self-medicating or trying random stretches can sometimes make the nerve compression worse.

I had severe sciatica that I ignored for too long, which eventually led to foot drop and muscle weakness because the nerve was badly compressed. The pain is a constant, burning agony that makes sitting or walking impossible. Please see a spine specialist immediately before it causes permanent nerve damage.

I have been feeling this weird numbness and a burning pain behind my right thigh whenever I sit at my desk for more than an hour. Is this how sciatica starts, or is it just a muscle pull from my gym workouts? I am really worried it might get worse.

It feels like a sharp, shooting line of pain that limits your mobility and makes squatting or bending over really tough. Keeping your core strong and doing gentle hamstring stretches can help, but only do them if your doctor clears you first. Focus on a balanced diet to help muscle recovery too.
