What does passing a kidney stone feel like?

My brother just had a really bad kidney stone episode and he looked like he was in so much pain. I’m just wondering what it actually feels like when one of these stones finally passes? He couldn't even talk properly.

In my experience, passing a kidney stone can feel like an intense, agonizing wave of pain in the lower back and side, making deep breathing very difficult. Practicing gentle pranayama can help calm the nervous system during milder spasms, but for such sharp pain, medical assistance is absolutely necessary.

It feels like a sudden, unbearable stabbing pain in your lower back that moves down to your groin. The most practical thing is to keep drinking lots of water and coconut water to help flush it out, but if the pain is too severe or you can't urinate, go straight to the nearest hospital.

Dude, it literally feels like a sharp, stabbing knife in your side that doesn't let you sit or stand! But don't stress too much, once you drink plenty of fluids and take the doctor's prescribed medicine, it usually passes. Just keep a doctor on call if the pain gets totally crazy.

I thought my pelvic cramps were bad, but my brother's kidney stone pain was on another level. He described it as a sharp, excruciating pain in the lower back and side that comes in waves. I suggest getting a quick ultrasound done to see the stone size instead of just waiting it out.

My urologist explained that the pain occurs when the stone moves into the narrow ureter, causing spasms. It feels like a sudden, severe cramp in the back and flank, often accompanied by nausea and painful, pinkish urination. He advised that any stone larger than 6mm might need medical intervention rather than waiting.

I had to skip my favorite spicy chaat when I got this pain! It feels like a terrible, sharp grinding in your lower side that makes you feel nauseous and completely destroys your appetite. Keep drinking barley water and simple fluids, and avoid heavy, salty foods until it passes.

I drank gallons of lemon water, barley water, and pumpkin juice when I had a stone, which really helped push it out. The pain is a terrible, sharp cramping in the lower back. While these home drinks are great for flushing small stones, you still need medical painkillers to handle that intense ache.

As someone managing thyroid issues, I always believe in regular tests, and kidney stones are no different. The pain feels like an intense, sharp wave in the lower back and abdomen that comes out of nowhere. Please get a proper scan done and follow up with a doctor to check your calcium and uric acid levels.
