What does miscarriage pain feel like?

A close friend recently went through a miscarriage, and she's been in a lot of pain. I want to be supportive but don't fully understand what she's going through. What does miscarriage pain typically feel like?

I had severe, sharp cramping and light spotting during my 8th week and panicked thinking it was a miscarriage, but it turned out to be normal uterine stretching. Miscarriage pain is usually a very intense, rhythmic cramping, much stronger than period pain, accompanied by heavy bleeding. If you are worried, please call your gynae immediately.

Having thyroid issues increases pregnancy risks, so I was always very cautious. Miscarriage pain feels like very sharp lower back ache and severe pelvic cramps with tissue passage. Please ensure you are getting regular thyroid and blood tests, and consult your doctor immediately if you feel severe pain.

I went through a miscarriage last month and the physical pain felt like extremely heavy, twisting menstrual cramps that radiated to my lower back, along with sudden gushes of blood. It is physically and emotionally draining, so please reach out to your doctor and family for support.

My wife went through this last year. She said the pain was a deep, intense pelvic cramp, far worse than any muscle strain or regular period pain. For recovery, light walking and a clean, nutrient-dense diet really helped her body heal after the medical treatment.

I am so sorry to read about everyone's painful experiences. I wanted to ask, can a miscarriage also happen without any severe pain or cramping in the early weeks? I am just trying to understand the symptoms better.

Listen to me, dear. Miscarriage pain is usually a combination of severe lower abdominal cramps that come in waves, along with lower back pain and red bleeding. Please don't sit and read things online; if you are experiencing this, contact your doctor right away. We are here for you.
