What does meniscus pain feel like?

I twisted my knee while playing cricket last week, and now it hurts a lot, especially when I bend it. Someone said it might be a meniscus injury. What does meniscus pain feel like exactly? Is it sharp or dull?

Meniscus pain usually feels like a sharp ache on the side of the knee joint, especially when you twist or turn. You might also feel like your knee is locking up or clicking when you try to straighten it. Give it some rest, apply ice, and see an orthopedist if the swelling doesn't go down.

I was just reading up on knee injuries because my dad has knee issues. Apparently, a meniscus tear makes you feel like your knee is giving way or is unstable when you walk. It sounds really uncomfortable, almost like something is physically stuck inside the joint.

I completely understand how stressful knee pain can be, especially when you start worrying if you need surgery. My meniscus pain was a dull ache that got sharp whenever I tried to squat. Take a deep breath, many meniscus issues can be managed with physiotherapy alone.

Beta, it feels like a heavy tightness inside the knee and you cannot bend your leg fully. When I had it, I couldn't even sit on the floor to eat. Please don't strain yourself, put some warm sesame oil gently and show a doctor in town.

Look, if it hurts when you twist your leg or go down the stairs, it is likely a meniscus issue. Don't run around or carry heavy bags right now. Go see a physio, get some exercises, and give your knee some proper rest.

Knee pain should never be ignored because walking with a damaged cartilage can worsen the joint over time. If your knee feels locked or swollen, please get an MRI done as advised by a specialist. Self-management can lead to long-term ligament damage.

At my age, my knees make more sounds than my old scooter! The meniscus pain feels like a stubborn pinch every time I try to get up from the sofa. I just take my time standing up now and avoid stairs as much as possible.

I panicked completely when my knee clicked and locked up after playing football, thinking my sports days were over. But after a few weeks of physical therapy and targeted leg exercises, the pain completely vanished. Don't lose hope, it is very treatable!
