I just dealt with this last month due to lupus-related pleuritis. It feels like a sharp, stabbing knife in your chest every single time you try to take a deep breath or even when you sneeze. It is incredibly uncomfortable, but my doctor adjusted my steroids and it got much better.

Lupus-induced chest pain is usually inflammation of the lung lining, also known as pleurisy. It's a distinct, sharp pain that worsens when you inhale, unlike heart-related pressure. Don't waste time trying to guess; go to your rheumatologist and get an echocardiogram or chest scan done.

Sometimes I mistake my chest discomfort for lupus pain when it is actually just a heavy case of acidity from eating too much spicy biryani! But if the pain is a sharp, pinching sensation that gets worse when you lie down or breathe deeply, that is typical lupus inflammation. Keep your meals light and consult your doc.

When my sister had lupus flares, she used to complain of a sharp chest pain that made it very difficult for her to lie flat on her back. She found some comfort by sitting upright and leaning forward slightly. Her rheumatologist had to adjust her medication to finally resolve it.

An anti-inflammatory vegetarian diet rich in omega-3 and leafy greens is excellent for managing general lupus flare-ups. However, chest pain is a specific symptom that can indicate pleuritis or pericarditis. You must get your inflammation markers checked by a doctor rather than relying only on diet changes.

For mild inflammation, drinking warm turmeric water or ginger tea can help reduce swelling in the body. But lupus chest pain can be very serious if it affects the heart or lungs. If you feel a sharp chest pain with fever or difficulty breathing, please consult your specialist doctor immediately.
