What does liver disease poop look like?

My father has some liver issues, and I've noticed a change in his stool lately. I'm trying to discreetly understand if it's related. What does liver disease poop typically look like? Any particular color or consistency changes?

With liver issues, the stool often looks pale, clay-colored, or light grey because the flow of bile is blocked. I monitor my body closely due to my high BP, and changing stool color is a major warning sign. Please get your liver enzymes and gallbladder checked by a doctor if you notice this.

My cousin had jaundice and his stool literally turned a pale greyish-white color because of bile issues. If you are seeing that or if it's super dark like charcoal, it's a clear sign your liver is struggling. Don't feel awkward about it, just tell a doctor straight away.

It can look pale clay-colored, or very dark and tarry if there is internal bleeding. I had some severe complications last year because I ignored these changes for too long. Please do not wait around or try home remedies, show this to a gastroenterologist immediately.

A pale, clay-like stool or a dark, tarry stool are classic signs of liver or biliary tract issues. When my father had similar symptoms, we went to a hepatologist at a reputed hospital who did an ultrasound and blood tests. You should clearly describe these stool changes to your doctor so they can order the correct tests.

When your liver is unhappy, your bathroom trips start looking like an art project with pale, clay-colored poop or sometimes very dark colors. At our age, we have to inspect everything to make sure the machinery is working fine. If it looks weird for more than a couple of days, it's time to skip the coffee and visit the doc.

Usually, liver problems cause pale-colored or very loose, greasy stools that float. While you wait for your doctor's appointment, stick to very simple boiled food and avoid fatty or oily dishes completely to make digestion easier on your liver. Keep yourself hydrated with plain water and coconut water.

From what I've read while managing my own hormonal issues, liver distress can make stool look light-colored or clay-like, and sometimes the urine becomes very dark. I am not a doctor, but such noticeable changes in bowel habits should always be discussed with a medical specialist to rule out anything serious.
