What does it band pain feel like?

I've started running recently, and now I'm feeling this weird pain on the side of my thigh, going down to my knee. My friend said it might be 'IT band pain'. What does IT band pain feel like exactly? Is it sharp or dull?

Look, IT band pain isn't a general thigh ache; it feels like a sharp, burning pinch on the outer side of your knee. It usually acts up five minutes into your run or walk and makes walking down stairs a total pain. Don't push through it, just rest and let the tendon cool down.

It's basically a friction injury, feeling like a sharp, burning sensation on the outside of the knee joint during repetitive movements like running or cycling. Foam rolling the outer thigh won't fix it; you need to focus on strengthening your gluteus medius and core to stabilize the pelvis.

It feels like a sharp ache or friction on the outer side of the knee. Since I walk regularly to keep my blood sugar levels in check, this pain really disrupted my routine. I had to consult a physiotherapist to safely resolve it without stopping my physical activity entirely.

It is that wonderful sensation where the side of your knee feels like it's being rubbed with sandpaper. Trying to walk down stairs makes you look like a penguin because bending the knee hurts so much. Ah, the absolute joy of a body that complains about a simple evening walk!

It feels like a sharp pain on the outer knee area when you bend it. My mother suggested applying warm herbal oil, which gave some temporary comfort, but visiting a sports doctor was the right choice. They helped me correct my walking posture and solve the real issue.

Many fitness influencers online will tell you to roll your IT band on a foam roller to cure it, but that can actually irritate the tissue more. It feels like a severe, localized pain on the outer knee joint. Please ignore the internet advice and let a sports physiotherapist diagnose the actual hip or foot imbalance causing it.

I had this during my marathon training and it was so frustrating! It feels like a tight, snapping pain on the outside of your knee every time your foot hits the ground. What really helped me was doing hip strengthening exercises and taking a break from running for a couple of weeks.
