What does gum disease smell like?

My wife has complained about my breath lately, saying it's unusual even after brushing. Could it be related to my gums? What does gum disease smell like, generally?

Honestly, it has this distinct metallic, sweetish but rotten smell that doesn't go away even after brushing. I noticed it when my doctor told me to improve my lifestyle to help manage my BP. You should definitely get a dental checkup because oral health directly impacts your heart and blood pressure.

It mostly smells like stale onions mixed with a bit of copper or blood, especially when you floss! Quite unpleasant but don't worry, it's very common. Just go get a deep cleaning done at the dentist and you'll feel super fresh again!

Don't believe people who say some herbal paste or home remedy will cure gum smell. That smell is from bacteria breeding under your gum line, producing volatile sulfur compounds. Go to a qualified dentist and get a proper diagnosis instead of trying random stuff online.

I tried everything from chewing cloves to oil pulling with coconut oil to get rid of that rotten-egg smell. While those things give temporary relief, the smell keeps coming back if there is deep infection. Save your effort and see a dentist first, then use home remedies for maintenance.

My doctor told me that hormonal issues like thyroid can sometimes make you more prone to gum swelling and bad breath. It smells quite strong, almost like rotting food that got stuck in your teeth. Please consult a dentist and maybe get your blood levels checked too just to be sure.

Think of it as a constant, stale, trash-like odor that doesn't improve with mouthwash or mints. In the pharmacy, we see people buying strong mouthwashes for this, but honestly, those only mask the smell temporarily. You need a dentist to clean out the plaque underneath the gums.

I had severe bleeding gums last year and the smell was like old, stagnant water or copper. Brushing twice and using a water flosser helped, but the real solution was the scaling treatment at the clinic. Don't waste time on fancy toothpastes, just get a professional cleaning done.

It has a distinct, foul, stale smell that persists even after you brush and track your hygiene. I log my daily water intake and routines on my fitness app, and noticed dehydration makes it way worse. Definitely book an appointment on a health app and get a dentist to look at it.

I kept smelling this weird, sour sulphur-like smell every time I breathed through my nose and totally panicked thinking it was a lung infection! Turns out it was just a small gum issue. Go to the dentist soon so you don't overthink it like I did.

It is a heavy, sour smell that indicates toxins accumulating in the mouth. Along with your regular dentist visits, try warm salt water gargles every morning and clean your tongue gently. Keeping the body cool and drinking enough water also helps reduce this heat.
