What does diabetic foot care include?

My elderly mother has diabetes and her feet are getting sensitive. I want to make sure I'm taking proper care of them for her. What does diabetic foot care typically include? Are there specific things I should be doing at home?

Diabetic foot care is super important! It's mainly about daily inspection: check your feet for cuts, blisters, redness, or swelling. Wash your feet daily with lukewarm water and dry them thoroughly, especially between the toes. Moisturize, but not between toes. Wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes and clean socks. And never walk barefoot! Regular check-ups with your doctor or a podiatrist are key.

It's critical. Daily inspection for any cuts or sores, no matter how small. Wash daily, dry thoroughly, moisturize (but not between toes). Always wear proper, well-fitting shoes and socks, even indoors. Absolutely no walking barefoot. Also, get regular foot exams from your doctor. Any unusual pain or wound that doesn't heal, straight to the doctor.

For diabetic foot care, you must be extremely vigilant. It includes daily self-checks for any injury, even tiny ones, thorough washing and drying, proper moisturizing to prevent cracks, and wearing protective footwear always. But above all, any change or concern, no matter how small, must be immediately checked by a doctor or podiatrist. Don't ever take a chance with your feet.

I remember how stressful it was for my grandmother to always check her feet. It’s not just physical care, but also the mental burden of always being careful. It includes daily checking for any small wound, making sure your shoes are super comfortable, keeping feet clean and moisturized. It’s a lot of discipline, but it’s so crucial to prevent bigger problems down the line.

Yaar, diabetic foot care is no joke, actually. Every day you have to check your feet like a detective – any cut, any redness, any blister, anything. Wash 'em properly, dry them well, especially in between the toes haan. And wear good shoes, never chappals or barefoot outside. Mere dad ko bahut problem hui thi, so take it seriously, boss.
