What does cirrhosis of the liver look like?

My father was diagnosed with cirrhosis a while ago and I'm trying to learn more about the condition. Besides internal symptoms, are there any visible signs on the body? What does cirrhosis of the liver typically look like?

As a friend in the medical field, I can tell you that early cirrhosis doesn't really 'look' like anything from the outside. It's damage happening inside. But as it progresses, you might start noticing signs like jaundice (yellowing skin/eyes), fluid retention causing swollen legs (edema) or a swollen belly (ascites), spider-like blood vessels on the skin (spider angiomas), or very red palms. These are visual cues that indicate liver damage. Always best to get tested if you suspect something.

I totally get it, seeing physical changes can be really alarming and make you worried. In early stages, cirrhosis often doesn't show external signs. But as it gets worse, you might notice things like yellowish skin or eyes (jaundice), a swollen belly due to fluid (ascites), or swollen ankles and feet. Sometimes even spider-like blood vessels appear on the skin. If you see any of these, please see a doctor immediately.

Let's be clear: you cannot 'see' early cirrhosis just by looking at someone or yourself. Don't fall for any internet claims suggesting otherwise. It's internal scarring of the liver. Advanced stages *can* show physical signs like yellow skin (jaundice), swollen abdomen/legs due to fluid, or visible blood vessels, but these are symptoms a doctor identifies. Only proper medical tests can confirm cirrhosis, so consult a specialist, not Dr. Google.

I can only share what I observed with a relative who had advanced cirrhosis. Her skin turned yellowish, her legs and belly became very swollen, and she had these tiny red spider-like marks on her chest. It was quite visible externally then. I can't offer medical advice, but if you're seeing any dramatic changes like this, please seek professional medical help immediately.

My child had liver issues from birth, and I learned a lot about this. Early cirrhosis won't show anything on the outside. But as it progresses, you might see yellowing of the skin or eyes (jaundice), fluid buildup causing a swollen belly or legs, and sometimes small red spider-like veins on the skin. It's heartbreaking to see, so please get it checked early if you have any doubts. Don't wait like we did for some signs.

A well-balanced vegetarian diet definitely helps maintain liver health, but it doesn't make cirrhosis visible or prevent it entirely. In its early stages, cirrhosis isn't outwardly apparent. As it progresses, it can manifest visually as jaundice (yellowing skin/eyes), ascites (swollen belly from fluid), edema (swollen legs), or spider angiomas (red spider-like veins on the skin). These visual cues indicate significant damage, so if you notice them, definitely consult a doctor and revisit your dietary plan with their guidance.

Beta, when I was younger, we didn't know much about these things. Cirrhosis, in its initial stages, you won't see anything. But if it becomes severe, then yes, the skin can become yellow, the stomach swells up like a balloon, and legs also get swollen. Sometimes small red veins can be seen. These are very late signs. It's always best to listen to your body and go to the doctor early, don't fear.

Beti, initially, you won't see any outward signs of cirrhosis. It's a disease that starts inside. However, if it progresses, then yes, the body shows signs like yellow skin and eyes (peeliya), swelling in the legs and stomach, and sometimes even red spots on the skin like spider webs. While healthy food is always good, for such severe conditions, only a doctor can properly look and tell you what is happening.

It's completely normal to feel anxious about what serious conditions like cirrhosis might 'look' like on your body. In the early stages, there are often no visible external signs, which is part of what makes it so worrying. When symptoms do become visible, they can include yellowing of the skin and eyes (jaundice), fluid retention causing a swollen abdomen or legs, and sometimes small red spider-like blood vessels on the skin. Don't keep worrying alone; get a medical opinion.

From a holistic perspective, while our bodies strive for balance, conditions like cirrhosis involve deep internal changes. In its initial stages, it often doesn't 'look' like anything externally visible. It's a cellular process. However, as it advances, one might observe symptoms like yellowing of skin (jaundice), swelling in the belly or legs due to fluid, and sometimes tiny red spots on the skin. While pranayama supports overall vitality, for such serious visual signs, medical consultation is paramount.

When you go to a good hospital, the doctor will explain this properly. Initially, you won't 'see' cirrhosis from outside, as the damage is internal. But in advanced stages, it can look like yellow skin and eyes (jaundice), a distended abdomen from fluid (ascites), swollen legs and ankles (edema), or visible spider veins on the skin. Don't try to self-diagnose by looking; ask your doctor for proper tests like LFT and ultrasound.

Haan, toh suno, shuru shuru mein na, cirrhosis bahar se kuch dikhta nahi hai. Ye liver ke andar ka masla hai. Lekin jab zyada ho jaata hai, tab haan, skin peelia pad jaati hai, aankhein bhi yellow lagti hain, pet aur pair mein sujan aa jaati hai. Na ye sab normal nahi hai. Toh aise mein seedha doctor ke paas jao, time waste mat karo.

Believe me, don't make my mistake of ignoring symptoms. Early cirrhosis often looks like nothing at all on the outside. That's the scariest part. By the time you *do* see things like yellow skin (jaundice), a bloated stomach from fluid, or swollen ankles, it's often quite advanced. If you have any risk factors or feel unwell, please, please get a checkup. Don't wait until it becomes visibly serious.

Dude, you can't just 'see' cirrhosis like a cut. In the beginning, there's nothing visible. But when it gets bad, people get yellow skin, their belly swells up with water, and legs too. I saw a documentary where a guy had these weird spider-web veins on his chest. If you're seeing anything like that, it's serious, get to a doc ASAP.

Early cirrhosis is not outwardly visible. Later stages can show jaundice, swollen abdomen/legs, and spider angiomas. Medical diagnosis is crucial.
