What does a tb skin test reaction look like?

I had a TB skin test a few days ago, and now there's a little bump on my arm. My doctor told me to observe it, but I'm not sure what constitutes a 'reaction'. What should I be checking for to know if it's positive?

My doctor explained that after the TB skin test, you might see a small swelling and redness. My mother always said to trust what the doctor says, and they measure the hardened area, not just the red part. It's a clear indicator for them.

Ah, the TB skin test, I remember those! What they look for is a raised, firm red bump, almost like a mosquito bite, but a bit harder. The important part is the size of that bump, not just the redness. Don't worry, it's a very common test.

Usually, after the TB skin test, there's a small red area. If it's a positive reaction, it will be a firm, raised bump. For general irritations, I sometimes use aloe vera, but for this specific test, you must go back to the doctor or nurse to get it properly checked and measured. Don't delay.

Okay, so a proper TB skin test reaction, if positive, will be a firm, raised bump on your forearm, measured by the nurse after 2-3 days. It can be a bit itchy, but please don't rub or scratch it. Just let the professional check it.

When I got tested, I was told to look for a raised, hard area, not just redness. Everyone's body reacts differently, so what might be normal for one person could be different for another. It's best to let the nurse or doctor measure it and interpret the results correctly.

A positive TB skin test (Mantoux) reaction will typically show as a firm, red bump on your arm within 48-72 hours. The size of this induration (the hardened part) is what the doctor measures. A small red patch without hardness usually means it's negative. Don't scratch it!
