What does a tb cough sound like?

My neighbour has been coughing for a long time now, and it sounds very persistent. I'm worried it might be something serious like TB. What does a TB cough sound like exactly, and how is it different from a normal cough?

My doctor colleague explained that a TB cough isn't always distinct, but it's typically a persistent cough that lasts for three weeks or longer. It can be dry or produce sputum, sometimes with blood. It's often accompanied by other symptoms like fever, night sweats, and weight loss, so it's the duration and accompanying signs that are more indicative than a specific sound.

As someone with thyroid issues, I'm always cautious about persistent symptoms. A TB cough is often described as a chronic cough that lingers for weeks, sometimes with phlegm or even blood. It's not necessarily a specific 'sound' like a whooping cough, but rather its duration and accompanying symptoms like fever or unexplained weight loss are key. If you have such a persistent cough, especially with other symptoms, get it checked by a doctor right away, don't just ignore it.

A TB cough isn't really about a unique sound, but more about its persistence. It's typically a chronic cough that sticks around for weeks, sometimes with phlegm or even blood. It makes you feel drained, definitely affects your energy for workouts. If you have a cough like that, for too long, just get it checked out. Good diet and exercise boost immunity, but for this, you need medical diagnosis.

Trying to identify TB by the sound of a cough is unreliable and frankly, dangerous. There's no specific 'TB sound.' What's important is a cough that lasts for weeks or months, potentially with blood, and accompanied by fever or weight loss. Don't trust internet descriptions; if you have these symptoms, verify with a doctor immediately for proper diagnosis and treatment.

There isn't a single, distinctive sound for a TB cough, unlike say, whooping cough. What characterizes it is its chronic nature – lasting over 3 weeks – and sometimes being productive (with phlegm, possibly blood-tinged). It's often associated with systemic symptoms like fever, night sweats, and weight loss. The persistence, rather than the sound, is the red flag.
