What does a normal tb skin test look like?

I just had a TB skin test (Mantoux test) and the nurse said she'll check it in 2-3 days. What does a normal TB skin test result look like? I'm worried it might swell up, but I want to know what's considered a 'normal' reaction.

Oh, I was actually looking this up for my friend recently! From what I read, a normal one typically means you'll see a small red bump where they injected it, but it shouldn't be hard or swollen. If it's more than a certain size, that's usually considered a positive. Always best to check with the doc who did it though!

For a normal TB skin test, there shouldn't be much of a reaction, maybe just a small red mark from the needle, like a mosquito bite. No swelling or anything major. If you see a big raised red area, that's when you should get it checked again, don't try any home remedies for this one!

I had a TB test last year. For me, it was just a tiny red mark, like a pinprick, and it disappeared in a day or two. There was no raised area at all. My doctor confirmed it was normal then. If there's any confusion, definitely speak to your doctor.

A normal TB skin test, also called a Mantoux test, usually shows no or very minimal reaction after 48-72 hours. You might see a small red spot, maybe 1-2 mm, but it shouldn't be raised or hard. The key is the induration, not just redness. If it's clear and flat, that's a good sign.

Yes, exactly, very little or no reaction means it's normal. Just a tiny prick mark. The nurse usually measures it after 2-3 days.

Hmm, I'm not sure if there's a 'look' to it that's universally normal. Everyone's skin reacts differently. My doctor always said to look for induration (hardness) and not just redness. Please, don't rely on online pictures; get it checked by the person who administered the test.

Okay so for a normal result, basically you won't have a big, raised bump. Just a small red area, like a tiny mosquito bite. My health app also had a section explaining how to measure it yourself, but it's always best to let the nurse or doctor check it properly within the given timeframe.

Honestly, trying to figure out if your medical test is 'normal' just by looking at it yourself is not the best idea. You should always go back to the doctor or nurse who gave you the test to get it officially read. They are trained to measure the reaction accurately, not us. Please don't trust internet photos for this.
