What does a migraine aura look like photos?

I've heard people describe migraine aura differently. I sometimes see shimmering spots or wavy lines before my headaches. I'm trying to confirm if this is common, so I'm looking for examples. What does a migraine aura look like, perhaps with some visual descriptions or photos?

I totally get why you're looking for photos! It's so hard to describe. For me, it's like a shimmering, expanding C-shape or zig-zag pattern that appears in my vision. Sometimes it feels like looking through heat haze or distorted glass. It’s definitely not just a fuzzy spot.

My niece used to get these. She described it like seeing shimmering, bright lines that slowly move across her sight, sometimes making things blurry or disappearing. Our elders would say 'rest your eyes', but she always went to the doctor for proper advice, which is best for such things.

It's normal to feel anxious if you're experiencing strange visual symptoms and looking for answers. My aura used to make me panic, it looked like a flickering, bright zig-zag pattern that slowly grew across my eye. It's unsettling, but understanding it helps reduce the fear. See a doctor if you're worried.

Finding reliable photos online can be hit or miss, as everyone's aura is a bit different. Typically it's visual, like shimmering geometric patterns or blind spots. If you're having these symptoms, documenting them quickly (even drawing what you see) before seeing a neurologist can be very helpful for diagnosis.

While I don't get auras myself, I know some people describe seeing bright spots or lines. For me, with diabetes, I'm always careful about visual changes and how diet affects everything. It's important to rule out other causes, especially if you have other health conditions, so a doctor's checkup is a must.
