What do you use for asthma attacks?

My younger sister sometimes gets really bad asthma attacks, especially when the weather changes. She uses her inhaler, but I was wondering if there are any other things or measures one can take for asthma attacks at home, just to help out.

For regular asthma management, keeping my cardiovascular fitness up through mild cardio has helped me, but during a real attack, lifestyle changes don't work. You must use the emergency inhaler prescribed by your doctor immediately.

Look, an asthma attack is serious and you can't play around with home remedies here. Keep your inhaler with you at all times, and if it's a severe attack, get to the nearest hospital emergency room.

Please don't trust WhatsApp forwards claiming certain spices can cure an asthma attack. This is a medical emergency, so rely only on your doctor's prescribed inhaler and nebulizer.

I tried all kinds of herbal steam and ginger mixtures for years, but honestly, none of that stops a sudden asthma attack. Only the rescue inhaler works in an emergency, so always keep it handy.

We go to a pulmonologist at a major hospital for my daughter's asthma. Please ask your doctor clearly to write down an 'asthma action plan' so you know exactly which inhaler to use during an attack.

My doctor explained that during an attack, the airways swell up and narrow. A quick-relief rescue inhaler is the only way to dilate the airways quickly, and if symptoms don't improve in 10 minutes, emergency medical care is needed.
