What do you smell when you have a heart attack?

My friend's father had a heart attack recently, and she was telling me about how quickly it happened. I remember someone saying that sometimes people report strange smells before medical emergencies. Do you actually smell anything unusual when you are having a heart attack?

You don't typically smell anything specific during a heart attack. Please focus on symptoms like heavy pressure in your chest, pain in your neck or arm, and cold sweats, and get to a hospital immediately if you feel them.

Home remedies like drinking hot water or chewing ginger are only for mild acidity. If someone is having a real heart issue, there are no smell warnings, and you must call an ambulance without wasting time.

According to cardiologists, phantom smells are not linked to heart attacks. Keep an eye on your heart rate and oxygen levels if you have a tracker, but go straight to the clinic if you feel chest pain.

I had a heart attack last year and there was absolutely no smell involved. It started as a severe, squeezing pain in the center of my chest that felt like heavy gas, and we rushed to the hospital just in time.

I once ignored severe chest heaviness thinking it was just gastric issues from lunch, and it ended up causing major heart damage. Please don't look for weird symptoms like smells—if you feel chest discomfort, go see a doctor immediately.
