What do small kidney stones look like?

My father recently passed a very small kidney stone, and it looked like a tiny pebble. I'm trying to understand what to look out for if it happens to me, since kidney stones run in our family. Do small ones always look dark or are there different types?

Yes, they look like tiny, jagged yellow or brown pebbles. Drinking plenty of water is key to passing them naturally.

They look like small, hard crystals, almost like tiny pieces of gravel or coarse sand. They can be light yellow, brown, or even black, and have rough, jagged edges which is why they cause pain when moving through your tract.

When I finally passed mine, it looked like a tiny, rough yellow-brown seed, no bigger than a grain of sesame. It was surprising how something so incredibly small could cause such a massive amount of back pain.

They resemble tiny, sharp pieces of rock or sand. Please don't try to self-diagnose or wait for them to pass on their own if you are in severe pain; get an ultrasound done to ensure they aren't blocking your urinary tract.

I just passed a 3mm stone last week! It looked like a tiny, irregular piece of hard, brownish gravel with very sharp corners. I had to strain my urine to catch it, and seeing how jagged it was explained all that burning pain.

They basically look like dirty, jagged grains of sand or tiny pebbles. It is crazy how a little 2mm spec can literally double you over in pain. Keep drinking water and stay hydrated, guys.

They look like tiny, sharp pieces of yellow or brown gravel. Drinking barley water or coconut water can help flush them out, but if you have a fever, vomiting, or blood in your urine, please go to a hospital immediately.

They look like tiny, hard crystals or mini rocks. To prevent these from forming, make sure you are keeping your daily water intake high, especially if you are working out hard and taking protein supplements.
