What do newborns sleep in?

I'm expecting my first baby soon, and I'm really trying to prepare everything. I'm wondering about the best and safest sleeping arrangements for newborns.

They should sleep in a flat, firm crib or a wooden cot with absolutely no soft pillows, blankets, or toys around them. Don't buy those fancy 'organic' sleeping pods or soft nest beds advertised online; they are actually major suffocation hazards. Stick to basic pediatric guidelines and keep the sleeping surface flat and empty.

I used to panic constantly, thinking my baby would freeze without a heavy blanket or pillow. But I later learned that babies actually sleep safest on a completely flat, firm mattress with just a simple sleep sack or swaddle. It is totally normal to worry, but keeping it simple is actually the safest way.

Keep it simple and safe. A basic wooden crib or a firm baby cot is the best, and just wrap them in a light cotton swaddle. Don't clutter the bed with soft pillows or heavy rajais just because they look cute; keep the bed completely clear for the baby's safety.

Newborns sleep best in a simple swaddle made of pure, breathable cotton. While ensuring they are sleeping on a firm mattress, remember that a mother's healthy diet also plays a huge role in their peaceful sleep. Avoiding heavy, spicy foods while breastfeeding can prevent gas and keep the baby sleeping soundly.

I read that they should sleep in a plain crib on their back. I am quite new to preparing for a baby and feel a bit overwhelmed. Could anyone suggest if it is safe to use a traditional cotton cloth hammock (jhula) for daytime naps?

A newborn should always sleep in a certified, sturdy crib or bassinet on a firm, flat mattress. Please do not use old, shaky cradles or soft bedding that could block the baby's breathing. For the safest sleeping setup, always verify with your pediatrician during your next visit.
