What do elevated liver enzymes indicate?

My recent blood test showed I have elevated liver enzymes, and my doctor asked me to follow up. He didn't explain much, just said we'd look into it. What do elevated liver enzymes usually indicate? Should I be worried?

Usually, it just means your liver is slightly inflamed or stressed! It could be due to a recent heavy medication, fatty food, or even a mild viral bug. Don't worry too much, just drink lots of water and eat fresh home-cooked meals.

I completely understand how terrifying it is to see high numbers on your lab report, my heart literally sank when it happened to me. But please take a deep breath. In most cases, it is just a temporary reaction to fatty liver or some daily supplements, and it goes back to normal with basic lifestyle changes.

My SGPT and SGOT came back slightly high in my routine test last week and I've been overthinking it ever since. Did anyone else get these results just from having a fatty liver? I am really hoping it's nothing major.

It basically shows that liver cells are irritated or inflamed, often due to a fatty liver or some medicine you took. Get a doctor to look at the exact numbers.

Ah, the classic alert that we've been enjoying too many butter chickens and late-night biryanis! Elevated enzymes are usually the liver's way of asking for a break from heavy, oily food. Cutting down on junk and giving my liver a rest for a few weeks brought my levels right back.
